GMOs co-founder Len Kahn took up the drums at age 13, and still uses parts of his retro kit at GMO practices. He played in a high school rock band called Shock, whose first hit "Rock Show" sold a whopping 10 copies.

Len worked as a deejay at the University of Guelph in the 1980s, then ran his own deejay service called the Mobile Music Machine. Len formed the GMOs in 1999 with Owen Roberts.
