(GUELPH, June 11, 2009) -- Celtic music has a certain authenticity to it when there's an Irishman from Ireland in the band. So Irish descendants The Roberts (from left, Robert Hannam, Robert Christopher Caron and Owen Roberts) were pleased to have Alltech vice-president Aidan Connolly of Dublin join them onstage for the classic Irish song Molly Malone, at the Alltech Canada 20-year anniversary celebrations. Aidan, representing Alltech president Dr. Pearse Lyons who likewise loves to sing, would have been equally comfortable in French, having lived and worked in France for several years. The Alltech anniversary also marked the first gig as a member of The Roberts for Robert Christopher, a fine bassist and all-around great guy!

(GRYPHON DOME, March 29, 2009) - The GMOs were proud to be asked to be the early-morning "energy" act for this year's Relay For Life fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. The event took place in Guelph from 7 p.m. Saturday night, March 28, to 7 a.m. the next day, and raised $30,000. We were the last band of the night/morning, stepping onstage at 2 a.m. and finishing about an hour later, shored up by appreciative crowd members who kept us going while we kept them going. GMO slide guitarist Doug Larson once again raised eyebrows with his handmade guitars; in this photo, he's featured with a royal blue creation he calls The Roadmaster. (GUELPH, November 22, 2008) -- The Guelph Guitar had a prominent place at the GMOs pre-holiday party, the hands of its creator GMO slide guitarist Doug Larson. You can read more about this project in At Guelph. The GMOs welcomed about 120 friends to the party from all parts of Canada and the US, including Vancouver, New York, Blenheim, Chatham, London, Hamilton, Toronto, Mississauga and of course Guelph. (GUELPH, June 13, 2008) - It was unusual for summer in Guelph: An outdoors event that actually featured sunny skies (for awhile, at least). Rob Hannam (left) and Owen Roberts offered noon-hour tunes for this year's third annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation BBQ. If you stuck around till the end, you were part of the A-Z experience. And if you didn't, you'll have to come out next year to see what it's all about. (photo by Arlene Warner)

(BELLEVILLE, September 29, 2007) - The GMOs were altogether for the Canadian Farm Writers Federation annual meeting, rockin' out here with The Proclaimers' 500 Miles. Thanks to Blair Andrews of Foodland Forum for another of his trademark introductions, to guest singers Dave Bedard, Tamara Leigh and Bern Tobin, and to all the dancers who kept the party going strong. Special thanks from all 120 conference participants to Bern and Martin Harry for running an exceptional hospitality suite! (photo by Kelly Daynard)

(GUELPH, June 8, 2007) - More than 350 people dropped by the Research Park parking lot behind AdFarm and helped raise $2,100 at the second Annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation BBQ (up from $1,500 last year), co-sponsored by AdFarm and Bayer Crop Science.. The Roberts pictured here (Owen Roberts, left, and Rob[ert] Hannam), provided an hour's worth of crowd pleasers, under windy, sunny skies...and given the shirts, there's no question Margaritaville was in the repertoire. Said organizer Arlene Warner of Adfarm: "The music was terrific, the beer was cold and the hot dogs actually tasted really good" (her husband's the cook). Really, can it get any better than that? (GUELPH, Ontario, March 17, 2007) - St. Patrick's Day at the Shakespeare Arms – what a great setting for Celtic music! The Roberts (from left Robert Hannam, Owen Roberts and Robert McLean) performed for friends old and new, and look forward returning to “Shakies,” Guelph's top pub for live music. (WOODSTOCK, Ontario, September 12, 2006) Rainy skies didn't dampen musical spirits or enthusiasm at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, where the GMOs unveiled their tribute to this 13-year-old event, The Show. Thanks to Ginty, Lori and Daiva Jocius for having the GMOs back, and to Lori and the crew for getting a cover over the stage. (photo by David Briggs)

(WOODRILL FARMS, July 14, 2006) - The hot summer night was a perfect backdrop for the GMOs rockin' debut of their new anthem "Farmers Feed Cities," written in support of the grassroots agri-awareness campaign of the same name (www.farmersfeedcities.com). This event, a farewell party sponsored by a Guelph-based agri-food company for one of its long-time employees, was a coming home event for the GMOs. Their CD cover and other promotional photos were shot on the grounds at Woodrill Farms, just beside the Guelph airport, and the first GMOs gig took place six years ago on the very same vista. (LLOYDMINSTER, ALBERTA, September 24, 2005) - The GMOs, with guest drummer D'Arce MacMillan of Saskatoon, turned "Mustang Sally" into "Mustang Tracey" in honour of 2005 Canadian Farm Writers Federation annual meeting fundraising chair Tracey Feist of Ardrossan, Alberta. Joining Tracey (second from left) onstage are impromptu GMOettes Tamara Leigh of Edmonton, Laura Laing of Calgary and Kelly Deeks of London, ON. (GUELPH, Ontario) - The GMOs had the good fortune of being the band of choice for the Ontario Agricultural College 2004 Wildcats (GMOs' Owen Roberts was the honourary class president. Coincidence?) At this event honouring the parents of the 04s, held at the University of Guelph's Peter Clark Hall, the GMOs were joined onstage by all four class presidents - Kelly Vander Wilp and Matt Thurston (stage left) and Blair Cressman and Dave Petherham (stage right) -- for a rockin' version of Sweet Home Alabama.
